Like the original BAL‑NIKZ design, this variant transmits all functions between camera and lens. This makes it ideal for demanding macro, micro, and reproduction applications as well as focus‑stacking photography.

The built-in focusing rail allows exact shifting of the focal plane without changing the bellows extension or the position of the tripod. The magnification ratio remains constant.
This is especially valuable for reproduction and macro shots with very high sharpness, for focus‑stacking series with controlled positioning of the focal plane, and for detailed macro and micro photography with demanding subjects.

With suitable Nikon Z lenses, the system opens up magnification ratios from over 1:1 up to approx. 7:1. Typical example ranges:
Nikkor Z 40 mm 1:2 – approx. 1.8–5.1:1
Nikkor Z 50 mm 1:2.8 MC – approx. 1.5–7.2:1
Nikkor Z 50 mm 1:1.8 – approx. 1.4–3.6:1
Nikkor Z 105 mm 1:2.8 MC – approx. 1:1.4–4.5:1
Laowa 100 mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO – approx. 1:1.25–5.1:1

The cable‑connected bayonets can be detached from the bellows standards when required, and used as an automatic reversing adapter to mount zoom lenses in reverse position directly on the camera.
With an optional adapter ring, lenses can additionally be used in reverse orientation on the bellows. In this way, the system extends its range of application and offers more creative options for macro photography.

The unit is fully integrated into the NOVOFLEX adapter system and can be combined with a wide range of accessories and different lenses. Nikon‑F lenses can also be used with the Nikon FTZ adapter.
For extremely detail‑critical work, pairing with the high‑resolution, apochromatically corrected objective head FLEX‑APO‑DIGI90 is recommended. It covers a focusing range from magnification ratio 1:1 to infinity.
