NOVOFLEX PROshift+ – Precise Shift Adapter for Maximum Image Quality

The NOVOFLEX PROshift+ adapter expands your NOVOFLEX bellows unit with a precise parallel shift function. By shifting the camera multiple times and taking two or three exposures, the resulting individual images can be automatically combined into one high-resolution composite using software such as Adobe Photoshop (Photomerge) or similar programs.

This technique significantly increases overall image size and therefore detail and print quality. Depending on the sensor resolution, the effective file size grows by a factor of around 2 to 2.4. At the same time, the individual layers remain accessible, allowing precise fine-tuning.

High-end results for demanding users

For maximum quality, the individual images can also be manually assembled in 16‑bit mode, ideal for still-life, architectural, or landscape photography where the subject does not change between exposures. Constant lighting conditions and manually fixed exposure values (shutter speed/aperture) as well as white balance are essential for consistent results.

Versatile applications

The PROshift+ adapter can be used not only for creating multi‑exposure composites but also for perspective correction. Combined with the BALPRO 1, it transforms the unit into a full shift bellows. When used with the BALPRO T/S, the built‑in shift function is extended by a second shifting plane — a major advantage in complex shooting setups.

The adapter can also be integrated into the stacking camera systems STACKPRO 1 and CASTBAL‑PRO. This combination allows focus stacking and perspective shift techniques to be merged seamlessly — perfect for precision product, macro, and micro photography.

Recommended combinations and focal lengths

When used with the BALPRO 1 or BALPRO T/S universal bellows, focal lengths between approximately 80 mm and 150 mm deliver optimal results. Due to the larger effective image area, an image taken at 150 mm corresponds roughly to the field of view of a single exposure at 80 mm. This effectively compensates for the focal length extension typical of smaller sensors.

The interchangeable NOVOFLEX A‑mount adapter system ensures compatibility with all common camera models up to full‑frame format and guarantees long‑term flexibility even when changing camera systems.
